The Super Snail!

This nifty little guy is what got my 5 month old on all fours today! We were out shopping and I spotted him at Target... I saw the large age range and really didn't see the appeal. I handed the snail over to my little guy and he was interested right away. The little snail lights up, plays music, and rocks back and forth. Our little guy even started to fuss when I tried to take the snail away! (that had never happened before) so i figured what the heck, lets get it! :) So we had tummy time when we got home (I put the snail about a foot in front of him) he was doing his usual tummy time routine and all of a sudden he was up on all fours! it was only a second but yikes! I see baby proofing in my near future! :)

Ouch!

Probably an over share but last night I apparently didn't nurse on both sides as equally as I thought and woke up to swift kick to the boob (I can usually handle this from a 4 month old) but WOAH! it hurt like no other... luckily the kiddo was waking up to eat anyhow, if he hadn't been I would have woken him myself. (and I better have a very good reason to wake up a baby in the middle of the night) I couldn't believe how engorged and painful it got and I had only gone to bed like 4 hrs earlier...it usually takes awhile for me to get to that point... EEKS! So I am being proactive tonight, not doing that again! :)

A new mothers job is never done! (even when you think it is, your body tells you differently!)

Breast Pumps

So I bought this Playtex breast pump shortly before our son was born. Nearly everybody I knew said "buy a Medela! they are the best!". I didn't think it was worth and extra $100 so I decided on the Playtex. I knew I would only be using the product about 3 days a week and whenever else I might need to so I didn't' want to spend an arm and a leg on it. I have had excellent luck with past Playtex products, read through the reviews and decided it was the right one for me...WRONG! This may be an excellent pump for some people but it just hasn't worked in my favor, or more importantly my baby boys. It never expresses as much milk as I felt it should (feeling very engorged two hours after you pumped is not a good sign!).

But here is the final nail in the Playtex Pump coffin, it took skin off! I currently have two little v shaped owies on my breast thanks to that milking machine! I was furious and in pain!

So last week I emailed Playtex to tell them about my experience (not expecting any kind of reply besides maybe a form letter for an apology) fast forward to this week and to my pleasant surprise I receive a voice mail from playtex leaving me with a case number and a contact person. When I returned the call it was swiftly answered by a cheery young lady who offered me an apology and...wait for it... a refund!!! I was shocked! So now I am excitedly shopping for a new breast pump and am getting the Medela I should have bought first time around (why didn't I listen to EVERYBODY that told me to buy one of those in the first place!?!?)... now, which one do I need...

My First "Me" Blog!

I wanted a place to rant and vent and share everything I learn being a first time Mommy! :) I gave birth to my son Troy Alexander on April 9th 2010. And he is the most incredible thing ever! I am married to a wonderful man, Andrew and we celebrated our first anniversary 2 days after our little boy came into our world. There is much more but I want to get started on my other posts! :)
